SOPHE To Take Student Blood Pressure At Event
Healthy Monday at Syracuse University and the Society for Public Health Education (SOPHE) program will join forces on Monday, October 26 in the Schine Student Center’s atrium from 12-2 p.m. for Measure Up Monday, an opportunity for students to check their blood pressure and learn about blood pressure’s relationship to overall health.
SOPHE will also be asking for volunteers to have their blood pressure taken before and after a chair massage to see the effects the massage has on a person’s blood pressure. Checking blood pressure is one way to monitor health.
High blood pressure killed more than 300,000 people in 1995, according to the Center for Disease Control. High blood pressure is proven to lead to heart disease, heart attack, stroke, kidney failure and peripheral artery disease.
